“As one of the fastest growing commuter railroads in America, Virginia Railway Express (VRE) is called upon to help alleviate traffic congestion in the greater D.C. Metropolitan region. Originally programmed to carry 10,000 riders a day, VRE has well surpassed that threshold. Adequate transportation funding is essential if VRE is to keep pace with the growing demand for service and the region’s desire to expand commuter rail service within its existing core network and beyond.
“Working in partnership with a multitude of transportation and business interests over the past two legislative sessions, VRE became aware that VBT was bringing together interested parties who sought to better Virginia through advocacy for better transportation all modes of transportation. This is a position for which I have advocated for some time and felt that VBT’s mission mirrored VRE’s corporate policy.”
