Managing member, Macfarlane Partners, LLC and former Director of the Virginia Department of Aviation
Resident of Richmond for 21 years

“As a past Director of the Virginia Department of Aviation, I understand and appreciate the importance of adequate funding for Virginia's transportation system – both in terms of current needs and for proper maintenance of existing infrastructure. Adequate funding means a safer environment and a higher quality of life. Virginia needs adequate resources to ensure implementation of the VTRANS 2025 plan that provides for efficient coordination of Virginia's transportation system across all modes - pedestrian, bicycle, roads, ports, rail and airports. Also, having restored historic properties in urban redevelopment areas and developed office parks in suburban markets, I understand the importance of having good transportation assets that attract businesses and jobs to both the urban and the rural areas of our state.

“I believe that all statewide and multi-modal efforts to improve transportation funding and provide for the proper allocation of resources are worthwhile and should receive stakeholder and citizen support. I have lived in the City of Richmond since 1984 and for the past five years, in a circa 1784 house in the Shockoe Bottom area of downtown Richmond."

Macfarlane Partners is currently engaged in projects in Blacksburg, Roanoke, Warrenton, Charlottesville, Richmond, Goochland, Henrico, Chesterfield and Lancaster Counties. “As a result, we frequently travel across the state and experience first-hand the need for and the importance of improving and maintaining our transportation assets.”
