Views From Around the Commonwealth
Mike Anzilotti
Virginia Commerce Bank -
I think transportation is important but widely misunderstood as to it's value. While
certain areas of our commonwealth seem to be oblivious to traffic concerns in Northern
Virginia and Hampton Roads, they must begin to realize the economic impact that
will be felt in their own areas if improvement is not made. We cannot localize or
even regionalize these problems. We all have occasions to drive on 81, 95, 66 and
other major transportation routes--as do our children going to college. We just
need to think more as a commonwealth on this topic.

Branscome Richmond –
Virginians can’t wait 10 year for revenues from offshore drilling and windmills
to solve the Transportation problem. We need Action NOW!!!!!! We also don’t need
to put the whole burden on Virginia taxpayers, get people who travel though the
state to pay their part.
Daniel Plaugher
Executive Director
Virginians for High Speed Rail –
We have seen more progress in the last two years than we saw in the previous 20.
The first phase of the Southeast High Speed Rail Corridor has essentially been studied
and is nearly shovel-ready. The only thing missing is the money.
