Welcome to the Virginians for Better Transportation It's Time Web site. This site provides information about the
Commonwealth’s transportation funding crisis and our coalition’s efforts to inform Virginians about this issue and bring
about a solution.
Current Situation
The Virginia General Assembly is preparing to meet for a special session in June to address transportation funding. During
this session the General Assembly members must keep their commitment to provide the Commonwealth with a long-term, dedicated,
multi-modal, statewide transportation funding solution.
Due to the fact that much of the transportation funding passed by the 2007 General Assembly (HB 3202) has been lost, Virginia’s
transportation funding levels are almost back where they started. We are already behind and if our legislators don’t come up
with a solution during this year’s special session we may not see this issue addressed again for more than a year!
As a concerned Virginian please do your part and reach out to your local legislators, the Governor and members of the media to
let them know that enough is enough! Virginia simply cannot afford to wait any longer for a long-term, dedicated, multi-modal,
statewide transportation funding solution.
Virginians for Better Transportation (VBT) urges members of the General Assembly to enact definitive solutions to
Virginia’s transportation funding crisis.
These solutions must include long-term, sustainable and dedicated funding and provide for all modes of
transportation. As a statewide expanding advocacy group representing businesses, organizations, individuals and
industry leaders, we recognize how this issue affects every Virginian. It’s time for a comprehensive,
long-term solution.
